Further into the reading of the Summer of Skinny Dipping, Mia sneak out her window one night to go take a walk on the beach. That’s when she finds Simon, and they talk together again. They end up taking a walk together and talk about their lives and problems, this turns into a nightly thing. Mia realizes that Simon isn’t an uptight person, and doesn’t like her snobby cousins like her. He isn’t as rich as most of the people who are in the Hamptons, his family is only renting a home for the summer unlike everyone else who own their own beach house there. She learns that the reason why her cousins and all her friends think he’s weird is because last summer hi, and Corinne’s friend Stacy had a secret thing and Stacy cheated on him with his brother. Simon got mad at his brother when he walked in on them and punched him in the face during a party where everyone saw it. Ever since then Stacy denied to everyone ever having a relationship with Simon and that’s why they all call him a creep.
At the end of their walks Simon tries to get Mia to go night swimming with him because he thinks night time is the best time to swim in the ocean. Mia won’t swim with him the first couple of nights, but eventually she does. Then Simon tells her to go skinny dipping because it is even more fun, Mia again won’t do it but eventually does. Mia thinks she is starting to fall for Simon but she’s worried that the only reason he is talking to her is to be near Stacy again
